Let me say „as good“ means: the noah redefined the quality of emulation software (and hardware).

Noah Tactive Instrument Modeller Keyboard and Expanderįirst: there is a new synthesizer out: the prodessey, emulates the ARP odyssey as good as the minimoog (minimax) and SCI pro one.

The ASB Series Creamware System 1200, ASB and the Plugiator – one of the best sounding digital clones ever made until it’s time. earlier called profit 5 (not the coolest name here, right?) it’s now „ASB Pro12“ They also offer this kind of clone as prophet 5. it has the same features and has velocity control of course. it’s 12 voice (now!) polyphonic and adds velocity and of course midi-controller controlled. but it has a lot of things that reminds of the mini. Martin, the coder of PG8X, plans development of a MKS70 like VSTi when the PG8X C++ version is ready.Minimoog clones – the digital Minimax ASB?Ĭreamware did a very close clone – it’s based on the pulsar platform later the noah contained it, too but it did not sell well because of its terrible interface (4 knobs in a rack seemed not to be sexy enough.).

Isn´t it, the JX8P has that or a similar VFD display too and also driven by that display driver coil or comparable ? So, I wouldn´t buy any JX10 or MKS70 anymore today because the issue comes for sure.
The guy who buyed my MKS70 managed to buy the very last 6 coils from Roland after some search and he gave me one of these as a thank you for my assitance, then I gave it to my tech who owns a JX10. You can follow the display related posts in Yahoo JXanalogues group. I sold my MKS70 some time ago and 1 week later the buyer reported the display failure caused by broken display driver coil. Like the JX10, the MKS70 has a VFD display you´ll find nowhere else these days and one of the most rare parts in the world is the display driver coil which usually corrodes, it´s legs break as also does the wire. Among VAs, Waldorf Q, Creamware/SonicCore Pro12 ASB, or the recent Novation Ultranova have the warmest "analog" pads in my opinion. If money is tight as you say, probably the least likely choice. The latter is better suited for pads in my opinion, but also more expensive. More recent analogs: DSI Prophet '08 or Andromeda. It has a warm but firm sound, and it's probably the best "vintage deal" you can find at the moment. I got it for penauts, and I find it even superior to the JX for pads and synth brass. Other old analogs to consider: Recently, I (re-)acquired a Korg DW8000. Probably the best choice, since it doesn't have too many physical parts that could break. Of course, there's always the MKS70, sort of a JX10 in a rack. JX10 is not too MIDI-friend, but since you have the programmer, it could be not much of a minus point. JX10 has a *very slightly* harsher sound than its little brother, but of course, you can layer two patches - a BIG plus. You might want to check that before buying another whole synth. If you get another one, you already know what to watch for: Aftertouch, main data slider and the membrane buttons are the things to check first.īe aware that there's a rather good software emulation around, and it's free. I had one when I was working in Japan in the late '80s, and I'm thinking about getting one again. JX8P is one of my favorite analog "middle rank" synths. Second, very sorry to hear that Sandy has caused you some loss - hopefully, only of material properties.
